Newly designed from the ground up, the FMB Turbo RS 4-45 A meets the demanding needs of Swiss sliding headstock lathes with diameter capacities up to 42mm.

The patented RS design will take Swiss lathe users to a higher performance level, especially for lathes with longer Z-axis strokes, demanding applications such as non-guide bushing mode, challenging materials, and profiled stock.

And the Auto Adjust capability is ideal for optimizing CNC turning centers that specialize in short-run work with frequent changeovers over a wide diameter range.

Auto Adjust Feature

 

The Auto Adjust feature is a feature on the bar feeder set that enables the channel to automatically change from one size to another. The guide channel defaults to the maximum allowable diameter. Using a controller, you change two parameters, a series of clam shells adjust through the bar feeder to your material size, and then you swap out the bar feed collet with an Allen wrench and a couple of set screws, and you’re onto your next job.

RS Feature

 

Instead of the telescopic nose device that traditionally connects the machine tool and bar feeder, the bar feeder uses RS technology. A steady-rest mounts directly to the back of machine tool’s headstock, providing material support at the back of the spindle, while an extension tube or guide module (what could be considered a sliding spindle liner) is internal to the bar feeder. As raw material travels, the integrated and oiled sliding guide module and moving steady rest provide superior bar pusher and stock support in the transition zone between the bar feeder and lathe spindle.
