Edge Technologies Bar Feeder Training Stands to Save New England Tool Corporation Hundreds of Hours a Year in Service
Compay Name: New England Tool Corporation

New England Tool Corporation is a full-service dealer and the exclusive distributor for STAR CNC Swiss lathes in the northeastern United States.
New England Tool Corporation Service Engineers Thomas DeFranco and Nicholas Barber flew out to St. Louis for training. New England Tool Corporation has been working to bring bar feeder installations back in-house. To help, Edge Technologies invited Thomas and Nicholas to their facility for a two-day training.
Both Thomas and Nicholas have worked with bar feeders for years, so they can get deeply technical. Thomas wanted specifically to explore troubleshooting with electrical components.
At the start of the training, the two filled out a survey requesting what they wanted from the class. Edge Technologies then customized the material so that they would get exactly that material.
“We didn’t waste time going over ‘What is a bar feeder?’” Thomas said. “We focused on what we needed.”

“This training stands to save New England Tool Corporation hundreds of hours a year. That’s a lot of profitability. Plus, it gets customer machines up and running faster, so it’s better quality of service to the customer.”
Better Quality of Service of Customers
The team learned how to force issues with the control to rule them out, which “will be a gamechanger in the future,” Thomas said.
A lot of times at customer sites, Thomas won’t have service, so he has to go outside to place a phone call, then return inside to test the troubleshooting advice, then return outside when it isn’t the issue. The process can take hours. This training stands to save New England Tool Corporation hundreds of hours a year, Thomas said.
“That’s a lot of profitability,” he said.

So what would Thomas recommend for the training? Be honest when filling out the assessment.
“Edge will focus on those issues and make sure you’re comfortable by the time you leave,” Thomas said. “Even if you’re proficient with bar feeders, getting the detailed information you personally need is only going to step your game up.”
